SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for automatic analysis of a video stream. Method for analyzing a video stream is proposed, consisting in providing a stream of images of the observed space, containing a sequence of raster frames; image of the current frame is received, on which an object is identified and the area of the current frame is determined in the form of a spatially-connected set of pixels that identifies the said object; average brightness of the pixels of mentioned current frame is determined; this current frame is divided into rectangular blocks of the same size and the average brightness of the pixels of each block is determined.

EFFECT: technical result is better quality of identification of the object.
