SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to positron emission tomography (PET) imaging systems. Detector array for an imaging system comprises an array of scintillator crystals, wherein each crystal includes a plurality of side surfaces, wherein at least a fragment of at least one side surface of the scintillator crystal is configured by laser etching of the side surface to diffusely reflect light back to at least one crystal; and an array of photodetectors optically coupled to the array of scintillator crystals.
EFFECT: technical result is higher light output, maintaining time-of-flight synchronisation.
