FIELD: processing and recycling of waste.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for recycling of lithium-containing waste in the form of batteries. Method comprises discharging waste lithium batteries using a discharge unit. They are further crushed and neutralized at pH ̴ 10-11. Neutralization products are unloaded, and a liquid fraction, from which lithium carbonate is obtained, is purified. Solid fraction is dried and subjected to magnetic separation with the separation of metal scrap. Solid non-metallic fraction is hydrolyzed to pH ̴ 4-5. Liquid fraction is separated from the solid fraction, the latter is washed, the liquid fraction is treated with ammonia to pH ̴ 12 and the hydroxides of iron and chromium are precipitated from the solution. Solution purified from iron and chromium ammonia is heated to precipitate gallium hydroxide, the latter is washed, filtered and dried. Non-metallic fraction is used as a filler in composite or building materials.
EFFECT: providing a method for recycling of lithium-containing batteries which is more advanced and safer to fire and explosions.
