FIELD: electronic technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mobile computing devices. Methods for administering power to the auxiliary device are described, in which the state of energy exchange for the system, including the main computing device, auxiliary device and adapter, is detected. Energy exchange states can be set according to relative state of charge (RSOC) and connection status for system components and displayed in control actions for power management. In response to identifying the current state of energy exchange, appropriate management actions for power administration can be established and applied for joint administration of system power. For example, a host device may extract additional power from a power source connected to an auxiliary device (for example, a battery or a power adapter) or supply power for use by the auxiliary device according to different states. Power exchange can also be administered according to the capabilities of the auxiliary device identified based on the authentication of the auxiliary device.
EFFECT: providing the ability to connect power from various sources.
