FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions relates to medical technology, namely to humidifier assembly (100, 100-1) for an airway pressure support system, to airway pressure support system (50) comprising a humidifier assembly, to a method of providing moisture to supplied gas in airway pressure support system (50). Assembly includes reservoir (120) configured for water retention. Assembly includes inlet structure (112, 112-1) leading into the reservoir and outlet structure (114, 114-1) leading out of the reservoir. Inlet structure is configured to receive a flow of respiratory gas. Assembly comprises conduit element (130, 130-1) having first end (131, 131-1), body portion (132, 132-1), and second end (133, 133-1). First end is fluidly coupled to the inlet structure. Assembly includes float assembly (140, 140-1) coupled to the second end of the conduit element and is structured to float on water held by the reservoir. Float assembly has a number of apertures (153, 153-1) structured to be in fluid communication with the inside of the reservoir and the outlet structure. Each aperture is configured to be located above the water surface, regardless of the reservoir orientation. Airway pressure support system (50) comprises a humidifier assembly. System includes gas flow generator (52) coupled to the inlet structure and configured to produce said flow of respiratory gas. System comprises patient interface (58) connected to the outlet structure and configured to transfer said flow of respiratory gas to airways of patient (54). Method includes generating a flow of respiratory gas using gas flow generator (52). Gas flow generator is configured to be coupled to humidifier assembly (100, 100-1). Respiratory gas is further passed through the conduit element and through said number of apertures of the float assembly. Respiratory gas is further passed over water and supplied from the humidifier assembly to patient (54) through patient circuit (56, 58) connected to the reservoir.
EFFECT: eliminated water ingress from the reservoir into the gas supply unit casing, reduced weight and simplified transportation.
