FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in a radar level gauge system. To this end, the system comprises a signal propagation device, a microwave signal source, a microwave signal source controller and a mixer configured to generate an intermediate frequency signal, combining the transmitted signal from the microwave signal source, and the signal reflected from the surface. Furthermore, the system provides processing circuitry coupled to the mixer and configured to determine the filling level based on the intermediate frequency signal. Microwave signal source is configured to exhibit a phase noise of at least -70 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset from a carrier frequency.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of measurement accuracy.
