SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicles, in particular, to a device for driving a sliding plug door of a passenger car. Pneumatic drive device of the sliding plug door of a passenger car with a door opening in the side wall has power block (5) with fixed base (6) of the block, fixed on the upper beam of the doorway, and movable block (8) with guides (9) for moving the sliding plug door with two leaves. Drive mechanism for the opening and closing of the door leaves consists of an infinite chain transmission installed on a movable unit with a chain tensioning mechanism and pneumatic actuator cylinder (16), the fixed part of which is fixed to the mobile unit, and the mobile part is rigidly connected to one of the branches of the chain, and the upper and lower carriages, one of which is fixed on the top and the other on the lower branches of the chain connected to the door leaves. Pneumatic drive device comprises means for blocking the movement of the door leaves in their closed position, a mechanism for extending the movable block relative to the base of the block with a wedge actuator; mechanism of synchronization of the position of the top and bottom of the door leaf when the movable unit is extended. On the basis of the block, the guides of the movable block with sliders are fixed. Extension mechanism of the movable unit consists of pneumatic cylinder (32), the body of which is installed parallel to the plane of the doors, the movable part is connected to the one installed in the guide, parallel to the axis of the pneumatic cylinder, movable ruler (35), having at its ends elements of connection with the wedge-actuating device of the mechanism for the extension of the movable unit. Case of the pneumatic cylinder of the drive of the chain is fixed on the mobile unit, and the external carriage is connected to one of the branches of the chain transmission.
