FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing glass for retroreflective microbeads. Method includes cooking glass to obtain a homogeneous melt, followed by casting on the granulate and cooling. Temperature of the melt on the granulate above the temperature of the beginning of the crystallization of the glass is not less than 50 °C, the melt cooling rate is at least 200 °C/s. Glass contains the following components, wt.%: 54.0–70.0 SiO2; 17.0–30.0 CaO; 7.0–16.0 Na2O and/or K2O; 0–5.0 MgO; 0–5.0 Al2O3 and not more than 0.1 Fe2O3. Glass has a refractive index of more than 1.53, preferably at least 1.539.
EFFECT: improving the efficiency of retroreflection microballs.
