METHOD OF CLOSING CAPILLARIES OF PHOTONIC CRYSTAL WAVEGUIDES WITH A FLOWER OF HEART Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC G02B6/02

Abstract RU 2679460 C1

FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to photonic crystal waveguides with a long grating period with selectively closed capillaries of the outer shells and an open hollow core. Method of closing the capillaries of a photonic crystal waveguide with a hollow core consists in filling the capillaries on the end surface of the waveguide with a light-curing adhesive composition and curing the adhesive composition under the influence of ultraviolet radiation. Filling of the capillaries is carried out using a template made in the form of a ring of optically transparent material. Outer diameter of the ring pattern corresponds to the outer diameter of the end surface of the waveguide. Internal diameter of the template ring corresponds to the external diameter of the hollow core. Adhesive composition is applied to the template. Template is fixed on the end surface of the waveguide under pressure, preventing physical destruction of the waveguide. When exposed to ultraviolet radiation, the waveguide is rotated in a vertical plane for the time required for complete curing of the adhesive composition. Removing the template is carried out after complete curing of the adhesive composition.

EFFECT: simplification of capillary closure procedures on the end surface of photonic crystal waveguides, reduction of sample processing time, increase in the percentage of yield of high-quality samples and ensuring the stability of samples with further modification.
