FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the low weldable aluminum alloys butt joints production – the Al-Cu-Li system high-strength aluminum-lithium alloys. Consisting of a tip in the form of a body of revolution with a collar rotating tool is immersed into the joint at 0.90–0.95 of their thickness until the collar contacts its surface and is moved along the joint at an angle of α to the parts to be welded surface normal line in their joint plane. Moving the tool with speed of Vsv = (0.1–0.19)⋅ω, where ω is the working tool rotation frequency, rpm, at that, the inclination angle direction coincides with the welding direction, and the tool inclination angle is α=1.5–2.0°.
EFFECT: method allows to produce the high quality welded joints of high-strength aluminum-lithium alloys, in which there are no defects, with the high level of mechanical characteristics (tensile strength σv, bending angle α, impact strength KCU), having a reduced surface roughness of the weld with Rz≈40 microns, which allows to considerably increase the high-strength aluminum-lithium alloys compounds fatigue characteristics.
