FIELD: calculating; counting.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data transmission technology in a personal satellite communication network. Method of assigning IP addresses includes assigning numbers in the first, second and third octets of an IP address in accordance with the address of the personal satellite communications network on low-orbit satellites repeaters, same for all objects of the personal satellite communication network on low-orbit satellites repeaters. Numbers of the fourth quartet of the IP address are assigned in accordance with a subnet address, which is determined by the radio communication zones, which form a radio communication matrix, so that a size of the largest radio zone, which is located at an equator, is not larger than a radio coverage zone of a low-orbit satellite of a repeater.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to simplify the mechanism of dynamic automatic assignment of a subnet number depending on the location of a low-orbit satellite and a subscriber terminal.
