SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method of protection of computer networks, intended for use in attack detection systems for the purpose of rapid detection and counteraction to unauthorized impacts in computer networks based on the TCP/IP communication protocol family, which consists in eliminating the demasking features of computer network protection tools: activity of any IP address from the range of IP addresses of the computer network, as well as the use of a single and immutable value (00:00:0F:FF:FF:FF)₁₆ MAC addresses regardless of the real address of the network adapter when responding to ARP requests to the i^th unused IP address of the network device of the computer network.

EFFECT: enhancing the effectiveness of protection and misleading the offender regarding the structure of the computer network by reducing the probability of the fact that the offender has detected the use of protective equipment and identification of their characteristics achieved by dividing the address space of the computer network into areas that ensure the realistic functioning of the protected computer network, and also by forming a set of random values of MAC addresses corresponding to false nodes of the computer network.
