FIELD: motor vehicle industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicles. This method for controlling the continuously variable transmission of a vehicle at different altitudes includes determining an altitude; determining the rotational speed of the driven pulley; determining one of the positions of the gas control and the throttle valve; selectively actuating the piston to change the effective diameter of the drive pulley of the transmission depending on the altitude; controlling the piston force depending on the rotational speed of the driven pulley and one of the positions of the gas control and throttle valve. Said piston force is controlled so that it is zero if a certain altitude exceeds the upper threshold value of altitudes.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of transmission control.
