FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Method for an engine comprises flowing intake air, heated upon passage through an interstitial space (416) of a double wall exhaust system, through aspirator (450) coupled to engine vacuum consumption device (470) to reduce motive mass flow rate at aspirator (450) as exhaust temperature increases. Actual temperature of an engine intake manifold aircharge is compared to an expected temperature. Plugging of interstitial space (416) is indicated based on the comparison. Versions of the method for an engine and system for an engine are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is to reduce motive mass flow rate at aspirator as exhaust temperature increases.
