SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a pipe corrugator. In the method, the technical result is achieved in a pipe corrugator, which has the first group of pushed mold blocks, made with the possibility of cooperating with and abutting the opposed second group of pushed mold blocks with the formation of a corrugated mold tunnel. Moreover, at the exit of the mold tunnel, the mold blocks of the first and second groups are separated from each other and pushed along the return path to be placed with an emphasis on opposite mold blocks near the entrance to the specified mold tunnel. In addition, each group of mold blocks contains a variable speed drive for the mold blocks, designed to interact with the lead mold block, pushed to the specified drive, and separating this lead mold block from the adjacent next returning mold block, creating a gap to compensate for thermal expansion between said leading and following blocks. Moreover, each group of mold blocks contains a processing device that contains a sensor for detecting the movement of the lead mold block, which is in interaction with the specified drive, from the next mold block, ready to interact with the specified drive and separated from the specified lead mold block by the specified gap, and means for registering the speed of the pushed mold blocks, estimating the size of said gap based on said detected speed and providing the operator with an output signal reflecting the measured gap.
EFFECT: determining the size of the gap to compensate for the thermal expansion of the pipe corrugator.
