FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at obtaining high-molecular chitin from the Hermetia illucens black soldier fly larvae. Method of obtaining chitin from the Hermetia illucens black soldier fly larvae involves the processing of immobilized larvae on the oil press. To 30–50 g of the obtained solid residue, add 150–200 ml of 85 % phosphoric acid, mix thoroughly and leave for 16–20 hours at room temperature. Resulting suspension is filtered under vacuum through a No. 1 glass porous filter and washed with 70–100 ml of 40 % phosphoric acid. Combined filtrate is diluted with 2.5–3.0 L of water with vigorous stirring. Precipitate of chitin in the filtrate is washed with water by the method of decanting to a pH of 5.5–6.0 and freeze dried.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to simplify the process of obtaining chitin from the Hermetia illucens black soldier fly larvae, and also to obtain chitin in amorphous form.
