SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, specifically to a method for producing melanin from black lion larvae Hermetia illucens. Method of producing melanin from black lion larvae Hermetia illucens aged from 25 to 35 days consists in that, first, larvae are thoroughly washed and dried, then placed in an extruder and extruded by a cold pressing method, after completion of extrusion, the obtained extrudate is settled until separation into fractions and the melanin layer obtained on the surface is separated mechanically, for repeated production of the melanin layer, the remaining mixture is held at room temperature and the melanin layer obtained on the surface is separated mechanically, after which, at the final stage, the remaining mixture is frozen, then it is heated to room temperature and melanin layer newly obtained on the surface is separated mechanically under certain conditions.

EFFECT: method enables to obtain melanin by natural processing of larvae without resorting to aggressive action of chemical reagents.
