SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of digital image processing and can be used in image display systems. Way to increase the sharpness of a digital image is that for pixels of a digital image, intensity gradient values are calculated, the signs of the second intensity derivative are determined, displacement vectors are determined, the length of which is equal to the pixel size of the image, and the direction is given by the direction of the gradient and the sign of the second derivative of the intensity for a given pixel, while increase in the sharpness of the image is performed by changing the value of the intensity of the pixel so that when the negative sign of the second derivative to the intensity of the pixel, the absolute value of the intensity gradient calculated at the end of the displacement vector for the given pixel is added, and with a positive sign of the second derivative is subtracted, from the intensity of the given pixel.

EFFECT: technical result is improving the quality of digital images by simplifying and reducing the number of computational operations while improving the sharpness of digital images.
