FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of metallurgy of titanium alloys and can be used to enhance the complex mechanical properties of flat products of high-alloyed pseudo-alpha titanium alloy VT18U (BT18Y). Method of heat treatment of sheet metal from pseudo-alpha titanium alloy VT18U (BT18Y) includes quenching and aging. Heating of flat products for quenching is carried out at a temperature of 10–30 °C, and quenching cooling is performed at a speed of 120–70 °C/min in an aqueous solution of NaCl, while the salt concentration is calculated by the following expression: C = K × H, g/l, where C - NaCl concentration in an aqueous solution, g/l, K - empirical experimental coefficient taking into account the cooling effect of the solution, K = 4–6, H - maximum thickness of the quenched flat products, mm, and aging is carried out at a metal heating temperature of 350–400 °C for 8–16 hours.
EFFECT: flat products are characterized by high strength characteristics.
