SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to therapy and pulmonology, and can be used to predict recrudescence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) of various degrees of severity (GOLD 2-4) during the next year of observation in patients with insomnia. To do this, patients with COPD and sleep disorders are determined: the severity of COPD in stages; age of a patient; insomnia severity index (ISI) value; the result of COPD Assessment Test (CAT), levels: C-reactive protein, melatonin in urine, interleukin-4; interleukin-6, interleukin-8, tumor necrosis factor, surfactant protein D (SP-D). Obtained data is processed by the original calculation formula. Based on the obtained value, a low or high risk of recrudescence is predicted for the next year.

EFFECT: method provides a reliable prognosis of COPD recrudescence in this category of patients, regardless of the severity of the disease.
