FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods and devices for calibrating rod pump controllers for use in wells. This method for calibrating rod pump controllers includes: moving a polished rod of the pumping unit during the first cycle of the pumping unit using a motor; determining the first pulse count values of the motor during the first cycle using a first sensor at the first moments of time, with the first moments of time separated by equal intervals; determining the values of the first positions of the polished rod during the first cycle using a second sensor at the first moments of time; establishing the connection of the first pulse count values with the corresponding data of the values of the first positions for the calibration of the pumping unit processor; building a reference table using the first pulse count values and the values of the first positions obtained at the first moments of time, in order to demonstrate the correlation between the first pulse count values and the first position values; removing the second sensor and continuous operation of the pumping unit and determining the values of the second positions of the polished rod as a function of time using the reference table in combination with the data from the first sensor during continuous operation of the pumping unit.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the accuracy of determining the position of the polished rod, as well as in reducing the time and labor costs associated with determining the position of the polished rod.
