SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of hydrocarbons and/or fluids and can be used in methods and devices for determination of pump unit parameters when used in wells. Device comprises housing and processor installed in housing. Processor is configured to determine the first load on the polished rod of the pump unit to estimate the first moment of torsion of the engine of the pump unit and to determine the first moment coefficient for the pump unit. Processor may be configured to determine the phase angle of the counterbalance of the pump unit or the counterbalance on the basis of the first load, the first torque moment and the first torque coefficient.
EFFECT: longer service life.
