METHOD OF PRODUCING MIXTURE OF IRON-COBALT CARBOXYLATES Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC C07C51/41 C07F19/00 C08K5/09 C08L23/00

Abstract RU 2682522 C1

FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a mixture of iron-cobalt carboxylates, particularly to universal additives which increase the ability of polyolefins to oxidise or hydrolytic dissociation under the effect of environmental factors with subsequent biodegradation, and can be used to create materials and articles from them, capable of being subjected to accelerated biodegradation in natural conditions. Method involves preparing a mixture of sodium carboxylates with an acid number of 1.0÷1.3 mg KOH/g by saponification of fatty acids with acid number of 110 mg KOH/g, recovered from soap of light vegetable oils, hydrocarbonate or sodium carbonate with continuous stirring in temperature range 200÷220 °C, subsequent production of iron carboxylate by introduction of inorganic iron compound into sodium carboxylate, wherein the process of producing iron carboxylate is carried out at temperature of 150÷190 °C to degree of conversion of sodium carboxylate 95 %. Inorganic iron compound used is iron (II, III), oxide or hydroxide, molar ratio of sodium carboxylate and iron (II, III) oxide or hydroxide is equal to 3:1 when using trivalent iron or 2:1 when using ferrous iron. Further, after obtaining iron carboxylate, cobalt compounds, such as cobalt (II, III) oxide or hydroxide are used in the reaction mixture, and reacting reaction of sodium carboxylates and cobalt compounds to obtain cobalt carboxylate at temperature of 150÷190 °C for 5÷10 minutes, molar ratio of sodium carboxylate and cobalt (II, III) oxide or hydroxide is equal to 3:1 using trivalent cobalt or 2:1 using bivalent cobalt. Finished product in the form of agglomerate is a mixture of iron and cobalt carboxylates with their weight ratio of 95:5 wt%, respectively.

EFFECT: high output of the end product due to higher degree of conversion of reactants, providing a general-purpose pro-oxidant when using a mixture of iron-cobalt carboxylates, high efficiency of initiators of destructive processes during production of oxybiodegradable additives, reduction of negative impact on environment, improvement of technical and economic indices of production, utilization of wastes of fat-and-oil industry – soap stock.
