FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for synthesis of metal salts of fatty acids as a process additive for rubber mixtures involves saponification of fatty wastes with 8-12% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution at temperature 80-90°C and then adding water to the formed hydrolysate, where the water is added in an amount which is equal to or 1.5-2.0 times greater than the volume of the hydrolysate, and then with a water-soluble zinc or calcium salt or mixtures thereof. The fatty wastes used is a fatty portion of soap stock of vegetable oil obtained from the complex effect of an electrolyte or deemulsifying agent on the wastes, except a preliminary distillation step. The metal salts have melting point of 65-85°C, density 1100-2200 kg/m3 and weight ratio of fatty acids 77-82%.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the technology for synthesis of metal salts of fatty acids owing to exclusion of a preliminary distillation step, which lowers power consumption of their synthesis process, widens the raw material for using the fatty portion of the soap stock as a process additive which improves processing of rubber mixtures by reducing viscosity, minimum torque during their vulcanisation, with better rheological properties.
