SUBSTANCE: invention relates to closure assembly (1, 101) configured to be mounted on neck (3) of a container, wherein the closure assembly comprises cap (2, 102) with dispensing opening (12, 112) and self-closing dispensing valve (4, 104) attached to the cap such that it is located adjacent the dispensing opening, wherein the dispensing valve is a disc of foil material having central valve area (15, 115) in which at least one self-closing slit (16, 116) is located and annular peripheral attachment area (17, 117) extending around the central valve area, wherein with said attachment area the dispensing valve is attached to the attachment area of the dispensing cap such that its central valve area aligns with the dispensing opening of the dispensing cap to close off that dispensing opening, and wherein annular rib (14, 114) offsets the central valve area of the dispensing valve relative to substantially flat attachment area (13, 113) of the cap.
