FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for the catalytic conversion of methane and can be used in the fuel, chemical and metallurgical industries. Method involves the interaction of methane with a gas on a nickel-containing catalyst. Gas from the combustion of municipal solid waste in gasification furnaces is used as gas, which is mixed with methane on a nickel-containing catalyst with respect to the sum of mass parts (H2O + CO2) in gas from the incineration of municipal solid waste to methane (0.85–1.25):1 at a temperature of 900–1400 °C.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to reduce the cost of the process, as well as to save natural gas.
