FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to compositions for gas distribution membranes. Composition for a gas separation membrane is described, where the composition includes at least one cross-linked polymer having a structure described by formula (I) -(A-O-B-O)n-, A is selected from a group consisting of: -Ar1-Q-Ar2-, -Ar1- and -Ar1-Ar2-; B is selected from a group consisting of: -Ar1’-Q’-Ar2’-, -Ar1’- and -Ar1’-Ar2’-; each of Ar1, Ar2, Ar1’ and Ar2’ independently represents bivalent C5-C24 arylene or bivalent C5-C24 heterocyclic ring, and where arylene or heterocyclic ring are independently optionally substituted with at least one R1 group; in each case when present R1 independently selected from a group consisting of H, halo, -CN, -SO3H or a salt thereof, -CO2H or a salt thereof, -C1-C10 alkyl, -C1-C10 alkoxy, -C1-C10 haloalkyl, -C1-C10 haloalkoxy, phenyl and cyclohexyl, where the alkyl, phenyl and cyclohexyl groups are optionally substituted; or two or more R1 groups can be bonded to each other to form a ring; or two R1 groups may be covalently bonded to Y; Y is selected from a group consisting of -O-, -S-, -C(=O), -CH(OH)-, -S(=O)2-, -Si(CH3)2-, -(CH2)p-, -(CF2)q-, -C(CH3)2-, -C(CF3)2- and -C(=O)NR1-; each of Q and Q' is independently selected from a group consisting of -O-, -S-, -C(=O), -CH(OH)-, -S(=O)2-, -Si(CH3)2-, -(CH2)p-, -(CF2)q-, -C(CH3)2-, -C(CF3)2-, -C(R1)(R1)-, C(=O)NH-, -P(=O)C6H5-, -C(CH3)(CF3)-, -C(=O)C6H4C(=O)-, -C(R1)(R1)-C6H4-C(R1)(R1)-, -phenyl(C1-C6)alkyl, -phenyl(C1-C6)haloalkyl, phenyl, cycloalkyl and heterocyclyl, wherein the phenyl, cycloalkyl and heterocyclyl groups are optionally substituted; or two R1 groups in -C(R1)(R1) can be bonded to each other to form a ring, where the ring is optionally substituted; R is an integer ranging from 1 to 10; and q is an integer ranging from 1 to 10; where in at least one case of presence Ar1, Ar2, Ar1' or Ar2' are substituted with the R1 group, comprising a benzyl hydrogen atom, and in at least one case of presence Q or Q′ includes a UV activator, where the UV activator is a carbonyl group; where the average molecular weight of the polymer is in the range of 10,000–400,000; and where the polymer comprises at least 2 meq/g of benzyl methyl, methylene or methine groups and at least 0.2 meq/g of UV activator. Also described is a membrane for separating or purifying a gas mixture containing said composition, and a method for producing same. Gas separation method is described, comprising: feeding a gas mixture to a gas distribution module, where the gas distribution module comprises said membrane.

EFFECT: obtaining a composition for a gas distribution membrane that improves its performance as a result of an increase in selectivity while maintaining cost-effective permeability values and high durability of the membrane.
