SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fitting for a fluid that is mechanically attached to a pipe. Fitting includes a connecting body having an inner surface forming an opening for receiving a pipe therein, a ring disposed to be mounted over at least one end of the connecting body to mechanically connect the connecting body to the pipe, and a main seal formed on the inner surface of the connecting body to engage with the pipe. When installed, the ring and the connecting body apply a compressive force to the main seal, sufficient to attach the pipe to the connecting body, in a sense, without leakage. Electrically controlled sensor device is attached to the surface of one of the connecting body or ring, which, when mounted on the connecting body, creates an electrical parameter in response to the physical movement of the connecting body or ring to which the sensor device is attached.
