FIELD: fluid piping systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fluid piping connector and system capable of remotely detecting a proper connection and equipped for automated, robotic and/or autonomous initial assembly, subsequent quality control and subsequent maintenance methods. A fluid conduit connector in one embodiment of the invention includes a housing, a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, a latch, an actuator, and a switch. The housing has a channel for fluid to flow through it and an opening. The latch can be moved through a hole in the housing. The RFID tag can communicate with an RFID interrogator. The switch is electrically connected to the RFID tag.
EFFECT: ability to detect a proper and complete connection between connectors using a device located at a distance from the direct connection point of the connectors, and for this purpose the device does not have to come into physical contact with the connection point.
