SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and an assembly for absorbing energy during an overload event. In the method, measurement values for the current state of a loading unit are detected using a sensor. Further, the energy absorber is controlled based on such detected values. Then, a control device detects overload event (63) based on the detected measurement values. Next, a damping of the energy absorber is set to a high value after overload event (63) has been detected and it is maintained for specified prolonged time period (67). After that, the damping is controlled, depending on the measurement values detected during the overload event. First, the load on objects that are transported on the loading unit is increased during specified time period (67) to specified threshold load (64). Then, the load is controlled after specified time period (67), depending on the measurement values detected during the overload event.
EFFECT: reduced load on objects transported on a loading unit.
