FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microwave devices. Magnetron with thin cathode is proposed for generation of powerful microwave oscillations in centimeter, millimeter and submillimeter wavelength ranges can be used in transmitting devices of perspective radar detection and guidance stations, navigation radars, as well as in communication systems, microwave equipment for heating. Magnetron with thin cathode contains magnetic system, anode, cathode with optimum size of radius, interaction space, resonator system, power output device. Principal difference from prototype consists in the fact that thin cathode with optimum size of radius is used, as a result of which size of anode radius increases, and interaction space (rA - rC) of the magnetron is expanded by increasing the radius of the anode radius and reducing the radius of the thin cathode. At that, generated power and efficiency of magnetron with thin cathode considerably increases.

EFFECT: technical result is increase of efficiency in a wide range of wavelengths.
