SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of detection of photon radiation and relates to a unit of detectors for measuring photon radiation. In the method, the detector unit comprises a first system of two electrodes separated by an evacuated interelectrode gap, one of which is designed to connect to a source of electrical supply voltage, and a second system of two electrodes separated by a gas-filled interelectrode gap, one of which is designed to connect to a source of electrical supply voltage. Sensitivity to photon radiation of the gas-filled electrode system exceeds the sensitivity of the evacuated electrode system by not more than D / χ time, where D – relative linear range of the load characteristic of a gas-filled electrode system; 1 < χ < D – coefficient of overlap of linear sections of load characteristics of evacuated and gas-filled electrode systems.
EFFECT: technical result consists in extending the linear measurement range of the radiation power.
