FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: turbocompound unit includes a turbine shaft, a turbine wheel supported at one end of the turbine shaft and a gear wheel supported at an opposite end of the turbine shaft, as well as a housing and a rolling bearing assembly. Rolling bearing assembly is arranged concentrically on the turbine shaft between the turbine impeller and the gear wheel to allow the turbine shaft to rotate and comprises at least two axially spaced-apart raceways, each of which comprises a group of rolling elements, an inner yoke mounted on the turbine shaft and an outer yoke mounted on the housing. Inner raceway and the outer raceway form at least two axially spaced-apart raceways for the rolling elements, and the side of one end of the inner raceway is in contact with the gear wheel. Another group invention relates to an engine comprising said turbocompound unit, in which a gear wheel is mounted to allow transmission of torque from a turbine shaft to a crankshaft. In the manufacture of the turbocompound unit, a concentric turbine wheel is mounted on one end of the turbine shaft without rotation relative to the shaft and the turbine shaft with the turbine impeller is introduced into the housing. Rolling bearing assembly comprising at least two axially spaced-apart raceways is then mounted, each of which has a group of rolling elements and each of which extends concentrically around the turbine shaft, to allow the turbine shaft to rotate relative to the housing. Concentric gear wheel is mounted on the opposite end of the turbine shaft relative to the turbine impeller, placing the gear wheel in direct contact with the rolling bearing assembly.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides an increase in the torque transmitted to the gear.
