FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses the use of polymers that statistically have an average of at least 4 acid groups per polymer chain, ratio of carbon atoms to the acid group ranges from 7 to 35 and the acid number ranges from 80 to 320 mg KOH/g, determined by potentiographic titration with 0.5 molar aqueous hydrochloric acid after three hours of heating in 0.5 molar ethanolic potassium hydroxide solution as corrosion inhibitors in fuels that have an alkali and/or alkali-earth metal and/or zinc content of at least 0.1 ppm, wherein the fuel is diesel or gasoline. Also disclosed is the use of polymers in additive kits for reducing corrosion in diesel and gasoline fuels that have an alkali and/or alkali-earth metal and/or zinc content of at least 0.1 ppm.
EFFECT: reduced corrosion.
