FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel applications of corrosion inhibitors in fuels and lubricants. As corrosion inhibitors in diesel and carb fuel containing at least 0.1 part per million of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals and/or zinc, which are selected from a group consisting of sodium, zinc, magnesium and calcium, copolymers are used. Copolymers are obtained by reacting maleic anhydride and at least one α-olefin with 16–28 carbon atoms. Then, optionally, second reaction stage of partial or complete hydrolysis of anhydride functional groups contained in obtained at first reaction stage copolymer is carried out. Second reaction stage is carried out at least if the copolymer obtained at the first reaction stage does not contain free carboxylic acid functional groups. Copolymer has weight-average molecular weight Mw (determined by gel permeation chromatography with tetrahydrofuran and polystyrene as standard) 1500–4000 g/mol. Copolymers retain activity and do not precipitate in the presence of calcium.

EFFECT: corrosion inhibitors have high compatibility with calcium ions and retain the action typical for corrosion inhibitors.
