FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: lens of Fresnel for a virtual helmet is a complex composite lens formed by a set of separate concentric rings of relatively small thickness adjacent to each other. Section of each of rings has the shape of a triangle, one side of which is curved, and this section is an element of cross-section of a solid spherical lens, the other side is an adapter edge segment of the lens. Transient end sections are inclined to the optical axis of the lens at an angle defined by formulas given in the claim.
EFFECT: absence of light losses at edge transition sections and absence of image of edge transition sections in useful image.
