FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical systems with variable focal distance and can be used in augmented reality or virtual reality systems. The optical lens with an adjustable focal distance comprises a layer of an electroactive material and a structure of control electrodes. The structure of control electrodes comprises no less than two electrode structures configured to form various diffraction zones, wherein application of voltage to the control electrodes causes the corresponding electrode structures from no less than two electrode structures to form no less than two different phase optical emission profiles.
EFFECT: increasing the diffraction efficiency of the adjustable optical lens over the entire aperture of the lens when the lens has a large aperture.
