SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and is intended to increase efficiency of communication system by notifying relative to channel quality indicator and modulation and coding scheme, which allow selection of modulation scheme, higher than 64QAM. Method includes: examining, by a terminal, a first CQI according to a first CQI; sending a first CQI index to a base station; reception, base station, first CQI index sent by terminal UE; determining a first MCS index according to a first CQI table, a first MCS table and a received first CQI; sending a determined first MCS index to the UE; receiving, by a terminal, a first MCS index sent by a base station; and determining the modulation order and the code unit size according to the first MCS table and the received first MCS index; the first CQI table includes records in which the modulation schemes are higher than 64QAM and the first MCS table includes records in which the modulation schemes are higher than 64QAM.

EFFECT: invention is intended to increase efficiency of communication system.
