SUBSTANCE: invention relates to modulation of wireless communication signals in communication networks, and more specifically - to support 256-position quadrature amplitude modulation. In accordance with one invention embodiment, the method is described in a transport network element of a transport block that comprises the following steps, on which a modulation and coding scheme for transport block transmission is determined; wireless device category type is determined, which will transmit or receive the transport block, using the wireless device category type, size (NIR) of the software encoding buffer for the transport block is determined, using a modulation and coding scheme, the size (NIR) of the program encoding buffer is corrected using the coefficient (KH); transport block is encoded according to a specific modulation and coding scheme and the corrected size of the program encoding buffer; and the transport block is transmitted.

EFFECT: in specific embodiments, a particular modulation and coding scheme is a 256-position quadrature amplitude modulation, and the coefficient (KH) is 4/3.
