Method for decoding prediction images, in which extracted from the compressed image data encoded data prediction information to specify the method of prediction, which must be used in the target area signal prediction, the predicted signal data of the target area and the encoded data of the residual signal; decoding encoded prediction information data to restore of the type of separation of the prediction block and motion information; generating a predicted target area signal based on prediction information associated with said target area; restoring the reconstructed residual signal of the target area from the coded data of the residual signal; and adding the predicted signal to the reconstructed residual signal to recover the target area pixel signal and storing the pixel signal as a previously reconstructed signal.
