FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to steels having high damping capacity, as well as to articles made from them, and can be used in production of cold- and hot-rolled sheets, long products, rods and forgings used as structural materials, as well as in production of structural elements and fasteners parts. Steel contains, wt%: carbon 0.001–0.05, silicon 0.01–0.5, manganese 0.01–0.6, aluminum 3.0–7.5, titanium 0.001–0.3, cobalt 0.013–0.05, chrome 0.001–0.5, nickel 0.001–0.3, copper 0.001–0.3, molybdenum 0.001–0.5, sulfur not more, than 0.02, phosphorus not more than 0.02, nitrogen not more than 0.015, iron and unavoidable impurities – the rest. Total content of titanium, molybdenum, cobalt and carbon is determined by relationship: [0.2×Ti + 0.1×Mo + 0.3×Co-1.0×C]>0, and content of manganese, nickel and cobalt in steel is related by relationship: [1.0×Co-0.02×Mn-0.01×Ni]>0, where C, Mn, Ti, Ni, Mo, Co is the corresponding content of carbon, manganese, titanium, nickel, molybdenum and cobalt in steel, wt%, and 0.2; 0.1; 0.3; 0.01; 0.02; 1.0 are dimensionless empirical coefficients.
EFFECT: higher damping capacity of steel.
