SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a shock absorber intended for connection with a vehicle. Aircraft landing gear comprises a shock absorber. Shock absorber comprises a shock absorbing element comprising a body portion defining a linear channel with a non-circular cross section, and an elongated rod slidably mounted in the channel to allow axial movement of the rod. Rod has a non-circular profile capable of contacting the channel in such a way as to prevent the rod from turning relative to the body.
EFFECT: shock absorber is improved owing to a simple design, reduced weight, higher strength/reliability in operation, improved aerodynamic and aeroacoustic characteristics.
