FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology. For the treatment of progressing keratoconus, an intra-stromal corneal pocket is formed using a femtosecond laser, followed by adding 0.1 % riboflavin solution into the formed pocket, impregnation of the cornea with the latter and irradiation of the cornea with an ultraviolet light beam with wavelength of 365 nm for 30 minutes. Using the VisuMax laser unit, a circular corneal pocket is formed parallel to the front surface and one arcuate corneal incision is made with the following parameters: depth 140–160 mcm, depending on the initial thickness of the cornea, diameter of the pocket and arched cut 7.9–8.7 mm, angular dimension of isthmus 320°, isthmus position 270°, angle of vertical cut-in 90°, length of arc-shaped incision 2.8–3.0 mm.
EFFECT: method provides higher safety of treating keratoconus by corneal collagen cross-linking by maintaining the integrity of the corneal epithelium, without significantly increasing intraocular pressure, shorter time for delivery of the photosensitizer into the cornea without de-epithelialization thereof, which helps to exclude postoperative corneal syndrome, as well as to increase rigidity of the cornea and, consequently, stabilization of the keratoconus.
