FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, more specifically ophthalmology, and aims at treating progressive keratoconus. It involves local corneal saturation with a riboflavin solution within a thinning region by riboflavin application on a pre-formed corneal pocket. The corneal pocket is formed by the two-step resection with using a femtosecond laser by making a circular cut at depth 150-170 mcm of the internal diameter of 4.0-5.1 mm, of the external diameter 8.0-9.0 mm, and then a radial entering cut at 0° for the left eye to 180° for the right eye of the length 2.5-3 mm from at the depth of the tunnel to the outer corneal surface to be UV radiated.
EFFECT: method enables reducing time required for riboflavin instillation, avoiding postoperative corneal syndrome, creating a supplementary corneal brace frame.
