METHOD FOR SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF POSTOPERATIVE AND RECURRENT VENTRAL HERNIAS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2685682 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, particularly to surgery. Carcass thread from a synthetic non-absorbable material is made at distance of 1.5–2 cm from the edge of the hernia gates in the form of a loop. Thread ends are brought out in the wound corner, on both sides of the hernia gates through the muscles in the carcass thread loop projection. Then U-shaped sutures are applied so that to grasp carcass thread located under muscles. Distance between the sutures must be at least 1.5 cm and not more than 2.5 cm. Mesh endoprosthesis is placed on top of the muscles, the longitudinal size of which corresponds to the longitudinal size of the hernia defect, and the transverse prosthesis extends 0.5 cm from the line of U-shaped sutures. Prosthesis is fixed with U-shaped sutures that are applied earlier; the sutures of the carcass thread are tied up as the tying is started, and after the fixation of the mesh endoprosthesis is completed, the suture is tied.

EFFECT: method enables reducing the number of recurrent hernias, reducing intraoperative injuries, fixing the mesh endoprosthesis reliably regardless of size and localization of the hernia defect, as well as preventing intraoperative and postoperative complications.
