SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing aerosol-forming substrates containing a reduced amount of tobacco-specific nitrosamines. Method of reducing the amount of at least one tobacco specific nitrosamine to an aerosol-generating substrate, wherein method includes providing tobacco pulp containing at least one tobacco specific nitrosamine; irradiation of tobacco pulp with ultraviolet light and tobacco pulp drying to produce an aerosol-forming substrate.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of time and costs for production of tobacco materials.
