SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for assembling vehicle components. Said method for assembling vehicle components includes the steps of: aligning the first and second openings of the first and second components of the vehicle, respectively, and at least one of the first and second components of the vehicle contains a polymeric material; passing a connecting component through the first and second openings, while the connecting component contains a support rod, fully enclosed in a moldable body, and it also contains at least one locking element projecting radially into the moldable body, and arranging the support rod in at least one of the first and second openings; deforming the molded body to engage with the first and second components of the vehicle, wherein the deformation step of the moldable body includes the step of mechanically deforming the moldable body by means of a punch element.
