FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of machine building. Proposed method comprises first step of extending inner plate from male die to matrix. Metal sheet workpiece is arranged on inner plate. Matrix plate is extended from matrix to male die. Matrix plate is placed in a position separated from the inner plate by a predetermined distance which is greater than the thickness of the metal sheet workpiece. At the second stage matrix is displaced to punch relative to matrix plate, inner plate and male die. Side walls are formed using matrix and male die. Matrix plate is joined to the matrix. At the third stage, the combined matrix and the matrix plate and the inner plate are moved to the male die relative to the male die to form an upper plate of the article. Invention also includes a press device for making an article of elongated shape of a hat-shaped cross section.
EFFECT: provision of dimensional accuracy of article formed by pressing.
