FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for encoding vectors decomposed of high-order ambiophony ratios. Obtaining, by means of audio decoder and from bit stream, data indicating multiple values of weight coefficients, which represent vector. Each of the weight coefficients values corresponds to the appropriate one of the plurality of weight coefficients in the weighted sum of code vectors used to represent said vector. Said vector is set in the area of spherical harmonics and represents a directed component of the corresponding audio object present in the sound field represented by a plurality of HOA coefficients. Data are received from the bit stream indicating which of the plurality of code vectors should be used to recover said vector. Audio decoder selects a subset of code vectors based on data indicating which of the plurality of code vectors should be used to recover said vector. Method includes restoring, by means of audio decoder, said vector based on values of weight coefficients and selected subset of code vectors.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of sound field representation quality.
