SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions is aimed at audio signal processing, and in particular, at efficient encoding schemes of directional audio encoding parameters, such as DirAC metadata. The apparatus for encoding directional audio encoding parameters containing scattering parameters for time quanta and frequency resolution elements and direction parameters for time quanta and frequency resolution elements comprises a parameter calculation module (100) for calculating the scattering parameters with a first time or frequency resolution and for calculating the direction parameters with a second time or frequency resolution, wherein the second time or frequency resolution is different from the first time or frequency resolution; and a quantisation and encoding processor (200) for forming a quantised and encoded representation of the scattering and direction parameters.

EFFECT: ensured improvement in the quality with a reduction in the bit rate for encoding spatial audio encoding parameters.
